Hello! I’m Nikki, property builder by day, artist by night, super smiley person, and lover of fish finger sandwiches. Born and raised in Norfolk, I live in the beautiful Tas Valley with my partner, Nick, and our Jack Russell, George.
I have drawn all my life, inspired by the illustrations in my Uncle’s Beatrix Potter books as a child and later Jill Barklem’s Bramley Hedge series. I continued through school and college, specialising in lino print which resonates through my love of line work now. After leaving college, I fell into a career of administration, and now run my own property business with Nick, but always felt something was missing…my love of art.
The pandemic in 2020 gave me time to reconnect with my passion for art and seeing how my illustrations lifted hearts during a challenging time, felt maybe that by sharing my artwork with others, I could make a positive difference to someone’s day. I began selling my artwork in 2021.
I would spend hours as a child poring over the books of Beatrix Potter and Jill Barklem, wondering if the world of nature had a secret life, not unlike ours. Now, as an artist myself, I look for the whimsy in nature and turn my observations into enchanting illustrations, offering the viewer a peek into the hidden world I used to escape to as a child.
Having the Norfolk countryside on my doorstep means I am never short of inspiration. Ideas for my illustrations either come from simply looking out from my studio across the River Tas, from my daily walks with George Jack Rascal around the Tas Valley, or from much-loved UK staycations.
My illustrations are created using ink linework and bright washes of watercolour, and developed into gallery quality giclee limited edition, open edition and personalised prints, plantable greetings cards and more.
