About Andy Caddick
I am a wildlife artist based in the West Midlands working from home in a purpose-built studio
I spent many years working via a publisher and selling my work through some of the UK most respected galleries.
I recently became an independent artist, which means my work is only available directly from me. I paint in a very realistic style using a unique combination of techniques rarely seen in the fine art world.
It started with a butterfly! A simple pencil sketch did literally start a journey I would never have expected.
I must thank my wife for everything I have achieved. I can honestly say if it was not for her, then I would not be doing what I do today
A quick story (if I may),…When we first met, at a point when I realised this was the person I wanted to share my life with, I drew a quick pencil sketch of a butterfly, it only took a few minutes, but my wife seemed impressed and nagged me to draw more and re-ignite my passion. So, I did, and long story short-here I am today. I won’t ever forget who I have to thank for that though. It’s stories like this that make the perfect painting!
Life often throws many things at us, both good and bad. For me, I use those events to then inspire an image that I want to paint. It is form of therapy I suppose, in a way. It helps me conclude a chapter, or resolve an emotion, and leave a lasting reminder in the form of art. I see it a little like a tattoo of life’s journey.
We all tread different paths, but we all experience the same emotions and go through similar highs and lows. Because of this, I try and create artwork that reflects those journeys we take. We often hang photos on our walls of memories we treasure or keep them in a box under the bed. I would like to transfer what we would have in photos into a unique art form that reminds you of what you have accomplished or brings back memories of a loved one and many other emotions we can relate to.
Having sold my artwork in many galleries across the UK, some before they were even finished, I can honestly say I feel humbled by the applauding feedback I get and the success I have achieved so far.
So in a nut shell, I do what I do because it is where my passion lies. I’m a firm believer that we as humans are capable of creating amazing things and a skill set from years of study and practice is something that brings so much reward. I offer a range of art and a bespoke commissioning service with something for every budget.
Thank you for being a part of my journey, if it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t be doing what I love.
